Workshop “From a friend to a friend” organized in Tutin

A creative workshop titled “From a friend to a friend” was organized yesterday at the child-friendly space in the Asylum Centre in Tutin. Children from the Preschool Institution “Habiba Stocevic”, together with migrant children from the Asylum Centre, made gifts for each other. On this occasion, the children and their parents learned about the work of the Asylum Centre, but also exchanged experiences related to upbringing of children, habits and child behaviour patterns.

On behalf of the EU Support to Migration Management in Serbia, Katarina Ivanovic said:

“At today’s workshop we see unity at work, we see child play, creativity and laughter. With the same goal, for all children to have a happy and healthy upbringing, the playroom of the Preschool Institution “Habiba Stocevic” was equipped with various didactic materials and toys for children of different ages within the EU Support to Migration Management in Serbia.”

Sabaheta Musina, director of the Preschool Institution, added: “I’d like to express my gratitude for the donation, because it made the space more pleasant for children and their development. I am pleased that the Preschool Institution “Habiba Stocevic” is among the numerous institutions for child education and care that opened its doors to every child, regardless of their origin and legal status.”

This Preschool Institution is currently attended by 765 children in 54 groups. Since 2015, around 50 migrant children have been included in preschool education, in both the older and younger groups.

At the moment, migrant children do not attend the Preschool Institution “Habiba Stocevic”, but the work with them is being carried out at the child-friendly space in the Asylum Centre. The long-standing cooperation between the Asylum Centre and the Preschool Institution “Habiba Stocevic” is also expressed through a number of joint activities involving local and migrant children.
