Photo Exhibition “A Story of a Woman” Posted Online

Virtual exhibition “A Story of a Woman”, which showcases 33 migrant women from the Vranje Reception Center with flower crowns, is available online as of today at http://www.milosgacanovic.com/pricaozeni/. The photographs included in this exhibition were taken at workshops during April and May 2020 and the state of emergency due to the Covid-19 epidemic.

Milica Andjelković Jovanović, from the mobile team of the International Organization for Migration, said that it was an escape from reality for 80 women and girls from Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq and Syria.

“It was not just making wreaths, but a real pleasure for all participants, and the results can be seen in the photos. This was a way for women and girls to spend time creatively in the yard of the Center and empower each other in a period of additional uncertainty and isolation. As a result, the flower crowns were showed together with the participants in the photographs, of which 33 were jointly selected for the exhibition,”she said.

The photos are a display of the beauty, strength and hope of women despite all the challenges. Due to the pandemic, the exhibition has its premiere in a virtual format. The photos were divided into three parts and followed by a story.

This series of workshops and exhibition was organized by the International Organization for Migration (IOM) in cooperation with the Commissariat for Refugees and Migration, within the framework of the EU Support to Migration Management in Serbia.
