Migrant Children Learn Serbian and Cyrillic Alphabet

The Ministry of Education, Science and Technological Development will continue in 2021 with the support of educational institutions in order to achieve the sustainable inclusion of migrant pupils.

One of the most important activities within the EU Support to the Education of Migrants is the realization of small grants. Small grant activities are carried out in primary and secondary schools, with the continuous inclusion of migrants in the education system.

Vocational school “St. Sava” from Bujanovac, respecting epidemiological measures, is implementing a series of activities. Migrant students who attend this school improve their knowledge of the Serbian language through additional practice of writing the Cyrillic alphabet and reading exercises. Young migrants accommodated in the Reception Center in Bujanovac are supported in these efforts by local children.

Involving migrants in extracurricular activities, such as the environmental section, contributes to a better quality of spent time. The students planted an alley along the road that more than a million migrants have passed since the beginning of the migrant crisis.

The topic of protection against the COVID-19 virus found its place in a series of workshops attended by students and parents with the aim of establishing the safest possible learning environment. Programming workshops are also very well attended and are a favorite activity of students.

Vocational School “St. Sava” from Bujanovac continues with the implementation of activities planned with a small grant within the EU Support to Migrant Education.
