Art workshop with migrant children in Krnjača

The professors of the Secondary Technical School “Drvo Art” have designed creative workshops of art, graphics and stained glass, in which migrant students create together with the students of the “Drvo Art” school, on the topic of the life of migrants. The goal of the “One Picture  Thousand Words” project is to better include migrant students in regular education.

The first workshop was realized in the Krnjaca Asylum Center, and 12 children participated. The participants of the workshop were first familiarized with the concept of art graphics, materials and tools used and had the opportunity to try out how to make a graphic print. They used special knives for linocut, graphic paint, and roller.

“The children are wonderful, well-mannered a

nd talented. The way they think, the things they show through their work, left an impression on me. I am delighted with their way of thinking and creativity. I really liked this experience and I would like to continue our cooperation in the future,” said teacher Jelena Kostić.

At the next workshops, migrant students will follow the video link to see how their artistic solutions are further developed with the help of high school students. At the end of the project, an exhibition of these works of art will be realized.

“Drvo art” technical secondary school educates students for three-year and four-year profiles in three areas: woodworking, landscape architecture and art. During schooling, great attention is paid to professional practice and cooperation with social partners. After finishing school, students easily find a job, become self-employed or continue their education.
