The EU supports the social protection system in Serbia
Support to the social protection system within the EU Support to Migration Management in Serbia continued during 2022.
Through the engagement of additional staff, the work of 20 social welfare institutions was improved, of which 16 centers for social work, three institutions for the accommodation of beneficiaries: Institute for the Education of Children and Youth Belgrade, Institute for Education of Youth Niš, Center for the Protection of Infants, Children and Youth Belgrade – Home “Jovan Jovanović Zmaj”, as well as the Center for the Protection of Victims of Human Trafficking. Also, the work of the Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs was supported by the engagement of the Migration Team.
When it comes to beneficiaries, in 2022, 72 unaccompanied minors stayed in social welfare institutions for accommodation.
The skills of the employees were also improved. It was possible for around 100 professionals in the social protection system to undergo training on relevant topics for working with the migrant population.
The Ministry of Labour, Employment, Veterans and Social Affairs, together with national and international partners, will continue to raise the quality and standard of work and organization of the social protection system in providing protection to the most vulnerable categories of the refugee and migrant population in the coming period as well.
Humanity and responsibility towards everyone who needs help and protection, as well as towards all citizens of the Republic of Serbia, remains the priority of this institution in the field of migration management.
